Now that CES 2026 is finished, here’s some notes you need to know:
Who killed the digital twin?
Remember way back in 2025 when everyone was excited about the concept of digital twins? Well, they were nowhere to be found at CES 2026. I have no idea who killed them or what exactly happened. But I can assure you that there were zero signs of digital twins this year. That ship has sailed.
How many assistants is too many?
There has been a significant rise in the number of AI assistants on the horizon. Your new digital health wearable, your car, your home appliances, etc, will each have their own built-in assistant. But is that a good thing? How many assistants is too many? Where does that end? We will find out over the next 2 years (or so) as more of these products gain penetration into the home and consumers speak out.
Quantum Computing Still Does Not Feel Real
I came to CES 2026 looking for a clearer direction on quantum computing. I am an admitted skeptic of quantum computing but I am also willing to keep an open mind. However, I can tell you that many of my questions remain and it’s possible that I’m now even more skeptical of quantum computing. I sat through a terrible demo from what is supposed to be one of the leading firms out there. I think quantum computing may not actually be a real thing.
